Happy Hooligan Comic Character Sheet Music

Issue   |  April 1902

THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC PIECE OF SHEET MUSIC, ISSUED OVER A CENTURY AGO! The title is HAPPY HOOLIGAN and we are delighted to be able to offer such a striking and historic remembrance of a time gone by. It is dated April 6, 1902, and measures about 11" x 14". It features a spectacular full color portrait of Happy Hooligan on the cover, drawn by his creator F. Opper. Suitable for framing. This is historically important, and could be the first comic character sheet music ever published. It was issued by the NEW YORK AMERICAN AND JOURNAL newspaper as a supplement. It looks quite presentable and could be nicely framed as is. Opper illustrations are on all four pages. There is about 9" of tape inside the front cover (which has bled through somewhat to the front and is visible), and about 6" of tape inside the back cover. This over-100 years old thick newsprint has some minor edge chips but the spine is still solid. The only example we have ever seen of what could be the first comic character sheet music. Available now and only available here at DTA. The cover colors are subtle and quite nice. We grade it GOOD+, and feel it would look nice framed.
